| This is a comprehensive course in playing the piano, working through from the basics of posture and music-reading to advanced harmony and performance. Newly-written exercises and pieces take the learner through each step in the process, covering styles including swing, jazz, rock, blues, and fusion, as well as classical. The book offers practical and encouraging advice on everything from practicing to chord substitution in jazz. Short profile pieces introduce key composers, performers, and styles. The professionally recorded CD provides the assistance the reader needs to master the music, while the book itself has a practical fold-flat binding for use at the piano.
